I find it a bit tricky when I need to choose a dress for a party: I start by looking for one option and, before I know it, I’m already imagining all sorts of different occasions to wear each style I come across.
Perhaps that’s why I love browsing evening dresses so much. A party dress can look completely different depending on the style, colour and details. Some are perfect for a more elegant dinner, others seem tailor-made for a grand celebration, and then there are those that simply make you think: ‘I’d wear that’.
That’s exactly what happened whilst I was looking at a few designs. Instead of choosing just one, I put together a little wishlist of dresses that I’d happily add to my own wishlist.
1. Daisda black mermaid evening dress with long sleeves and appliqués.

The first is a black mermaid-style dress with long sleeves and embellishments.
Black is one of those choices that rarely lets me down when the occasion calls for a more elegant look. I particularly like it when the dress has a detail that breaks up the simplicity of the colour, such as the embellishments on this design.
I’d choose this one for an evening party or a more sophisticated dinner. It’s the sort of piece that doesn’t need many accessories to stand out. A pair of pretty earrings, a small handbag and a pair of heels would be enough to complete the look.
I also find the combination of long sleeves and a more fitted silhouette interesting. The result is elegant without looking over the top.
2. Daisda elegant mermaid-style strapless long evening dress in baby blue with ruffles.

The second one is completely different. It’s a light blue, strapless dress with a mermaid silhouette and ruffles.
It was probably one of the ones that won me over the most because of its colour. The light blue gives it a more delicate feel and goes really well with parties where I want a feminine and romantic look.
I’d wear this dress to a wedding reception, for example, especially if it were an evening celebration. The ruffles add movement and make the dress more interesting when you’re on the move.
I also like the idea of straying a little from the more obvious colours. We don’t always have to choose black, red or dark shades to find an elegant dress.
3. Daisda Green Off-The-Shoulder Mermaid Evening Dress With Split Online Prom.

The third choice was a green mermaid-style dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline and a slit.
This one has a more striking character. The green colour catches the eye in its own right, whilst the neckline lends the look a touch of sophistication. The slit adds a modern touch without making the dress look overly flashy.
I can picture this dress at a graduation, a gala event or an important celebration where the dress needs to make a bit more of a statement.
I particularly like styles like this because they don’t rely on lots of accessories. When the dress already has bold colour, cut and details, I prefer to keep the rest of the look simpler.

The fourth dress on my wish list is probably the most festive of the four: a gold sequinned mermaid-style dress.
This one’s for those occasions when you don’t want to go unnoticed.
The gold colour already adds plenty of sparkle, and the sequins make the dress even more suitable for an evening party. I’d choose a dress like this for a New Year’s Eve celebration, a more sophisticated birthday party or any event where you’re allowed to go for a more glamorous look.
In that case, I’d probably do the opposite of what I’d do with the black dress: I’d wear more understated accessories to let the dress take centre stage.
Which one would I choose?
That’s the tricky bit.
If I had to choose just one for a special occasion, I’d probably go for either the black or the light blue. Black has that elegance that works in many situations, whilst blue offers a lighter, more romantic look.
But green would be my choice if I wanted something more striking, and gold would be reserved for a night when I really wanted to go all out on glamour.
One thing I’ve realised whilst looking at these designs is that there isn’t exactly one perfect party dress for every occasion. What works for a dinner might not be the best choice for a graduation, just as a dress full of sparkle might be wonderful for an evening party, but not necessarily for a more low-key event.

Daisda Black Sweetheart Evening Dress A Line With Appliques |
That’s why I like to put together a wishlist before buying. As well as helping me understand which styles really suit me, it also stops me from just picking the first pretty dress that catches my eye.
Another thing I find important is being able to compare different cuts, colours and details before making a decision. In the collection I found, there’s everything from more classic styles to dresses with slits, sequins, embellishments, sleeves and different necklines. There are also options for custom colours and sizes, which might be of interest to anyone looking for something more specific.
In the end, these four were the ones that made it onto my wishlist, but there are certainly others I could add to the list once I’ve done some more research. After all, when it comes to party dresses, a wishlist of four pieces seems to be just the beginning.
For anyone who also likes to do their research before choosing an outfit for a special occasion, I think it’s worth exploring the options and taking your time to compare the styles. Given the variety of designs, colours and styles I found, Daisda.com would be one of the shops I’d put on my list when looking for a dress for my next party.
